Biography
Full bio
Cíntia Cris is a visual artist from Mogi das Cruzes, São Paulo. Working across realism and surrealism, her practice is centred on the human figure, with recurring interests in anatomy, expression, colour and the emotional presence of the portrait.
Drawing is at the heart of her work. Ballpoint pen has become one of her distinctive mediums: the mark remains, lines accumulate and the image develops gradually through layers of colour and texture. The practice also includes digital art, beginning with Procreate, and tattooing in realism, mini-realism and delicate work.
Part of her practice turns toward portraits of Indigenous people, ancestry and cultural memory. Cíntia describes art as a way to keep memories alive and help this knowledge pass between generations. For her, drawing is also a way to preserve stories, recognise origins and create connections between past, present and future.
In 2024, Cíntia took part in Exposição Emoções, held during the first edition of Festival Somos CRIATIVUS, and in an exhibition at the Câmara Municipal de Mogi das Cruzes during Semana do Meio Ambiente and Dia Mundial do Brincar. Her work was also presented on Compartilha, a TV Diário programme, in the episode “Conheça o trabalho visual da Cíntia Cristina”, available on Globoplay.
In 2026, she created “A Cara do Brasil” (“The Face of Brazil”), a ballpoint pen drawing exploring identity, diversity and the many roots that shape Brazil. For Cíntia, the work “represents our diversity: many in one. A people singular in its identity, yet plural in its roots.”
